I have often been asked why such interest in running for the Board of Supervisors?
First and foremost, it is every parent’s wish to leave the world better for their children while teaching them the morals & values that make responsible & successful adults. Secondly, I believe in good stewardship; Proverbs 13:22 encourages us with the statement “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.” It is our duty as good parents to properly manage today’s resources while planning for future generations.
Our county is positioned to not only maintain some of the most beautiful scenery in Virginia, but also to regain economic prowess once generated by Cotton Mills & Tobacco. I believe that with proper planning, we can bring jobs, industry, education, development, and prosperity to our region for generations to come.
While NAFTA gutted our region’s job engine simultaneously as Federal regulations, corporate needs, & agricultural costs relegated our tobacco trade economy to a mere shadow of its once massive economic influence, we have been gifted a wealth of people trained in production & perseverance, but now educated in how regulations can both destroy and develop new industries, jobs, & growth.
Our people make this region shine.
Without ensuring our region grows new jobs, industries, and investment opportunities, we will not be able to leave a regional economy that our grandchildren will be proud of; this is why I feel so motivated to be a part of the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors.
As a Governor’s School graduate, I can attest to the fact that very few of my classmates remained in this region; it is our duty as citizens of Pittsylvania County to find ways to retain our youth in whom we invest so many resources during education. Ensuring both jobs and our youth are retained, we will chart a future with low taxes, great services, and viable long term economic growth.
A stable and productive combination of our elected citizens for our county Board of Supervisors will be essential to this great dream for our region.
It’s time to look forward into our future and lay the groundwork for success; our children’s futures depend on us!
